Last week it was reported to possibly avoid getting their program banned in america, TikTok’s parent firm ByteDance was seeking to sell off TikTok into a US firm and it had been reported that Microsoft was possibly considering them. It turns out that the rumors were appropriate as Microsoft has since affirmed they are in discussions.

In a post created on Microsoft’s site, the business stated, “The talks with ByteDance will build on a notification created by Microsoft and ByteDance to the Committee on Foreign Investment in america (CFIUS). Both businesses have given notice of their intention to research a preliminary proposal which would involve a buy of the TikTok agency at the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and could lead to Microsoft possessing and working TikTok in those markets. Microsoft may encourage additional American investors to take part on a minority basis inside this buy.”

This deal is expected to go fast since US President Donald Trump had formerly said he would be seeking to prohibit the program, but afterwards changed it by which he gave them 45 days to consent to a purchase, and it looks like Microsoft is among those firms which would be obtaining them. If the deal is successful, it would enable Microsoft to split into the social networking arena where they have practically zero existence in.

These discussions are expected to be concluded by the 15th of September, therefore we must have some type of official word on whether it’s effective or not in the forthcoming weeks.
