Kenny Golladay took yet another step this past year, and he was the very best contested-catch receiver in the NFL.
After grabbing 70 moves and topping 1,000 yards for the first time in his profession 2018, Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay reached the next level in his next period this past year. He finished third in the NFL in yards per catch (18.3), seventh in receiving yards (1,190), together with a league-high (by himself) 11 touchdowns.
Golladay, or”Babytron” as he is nicknamed, did exactly what he did 2019 together with Matthew Stafford from the last eight matches.
More than eight matches with Stafford, Golladay had 35 receptions for 640 yards and seven touchdowns with four 100-yard outings.
In eight matches with Jeff Driskel and David Blough trying to play quarterback, Golladay had 30 catches for 550 yards and four touchdowns. He awakened 60 metres four times in these last eight matches. With no fluke 75-yard touchdown on Thanksgiving Day, he wouldn’t have topped 80 yards in any game of the span.
Considering that the dramatic drop off in quarterback play throughout the second half of this season, albeit with no immediate bookkeeping for a Stafford/without Stafford split, it is not overly surprising Golladay had been (or needed to be) successful on contested catches this past year. He had the most receiving yards on contested slips from the group, besting DeVante Parker and much more especially Mike Williams and Julio Jones.
Golladay is entering the last season of his rookie contract. There needs to be a feeling of urgency to find a deal done on the Lions ending, sine he’d have been better last year when Stafford was healthy all of the way. Another fantastic season, with some improvement possible in concert 16 matches of competent quarterbacking, will lineup Golladay up to get a massive contract.
Golladay appears to have another degree in him 2020, as every thing instinctively comes together. That is a scary idea for opposing defensive backs that are currently fighting to feature him.
