Manawatū gets Fresh world class Baseball turf

You can find present turfs at Hockey Manawatū’s foundation at Fitzherbert Park.

The brand new turf was set by global company Polytan and is much like a single Polytan built in Japan for the Tokyo Olympics.

The turf is hailed among the most technologically innovative surfaces on earth.

The digital speed testing equipment inside the turf is world top.

Other interesting features include a shock pad, that exerts recycled rubber, and the asphalt has been set with laser machines.

The right lines were woven to the bud through production to permit a solid bond and you will find just two 30,000-litre water tanks to nourish the sprinklers to maintain the turf in top shape.

The water will come from Massey’s bore and will be recycled.

The turf is going to be utilized for community game, in addition to exercise-related research and teaching and to help bring hockey-playing pupils to Palmerston North.

It’s the newest addition to the university’s sporting facilities, such as the Sport and Rugby Institute, recreation centre, equestrian center, Manawatū Community Athletics Track, netball and tennis courts, and 11 rugby and soccer fields.

The turf was only weeks away from completion when New Zealand went to Covid-19 lockdown, but contractors declared work under alert level 3.
