Tiger Woods finishes 11 over at BMW, fails to qualify for Tour Championship

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – It was probably fitting that Tiger Woods’ weekend in the BMW Championship and his 2019-20 PGA Tour year came to a conclusion with him fighting to the back nine at Olympia Fields Country Club.

Woods wrapped up the last round of the BMW shooting at a 1-over 70 on Sunday to finish the championship at 11 over level. The 1-over-par final round was the best round of the four times there. Woods’ dreadful play over the weekend means that he will not qualify for next weekend’s Tour Championship in Atlanta, which also signifies that his PGA Tour season is finished.

As promising as Sunday could seem for Woods — together with the U.S. Open directly around the corner — it was the very first second and fifth total because the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at 2010 he went an whole championship shooting par in all four rounds.

“I did not play too as I needed to the first few of days,” Woods said.” [Sunday] was fine. I struck the ball quite well and made just a few putts, but now was more indicative of the way I wish to perform in a few weeks.”

Woods’ go back to the PGA Tour after the game’s shutdown on account of this coronavirus hasn’t been a smooth one. He never discovered consistency at the four occasions he played . He was over par in the Museum, 1 under par in the PGA Championship, followed by 6 under par in the Northern Trust whenever the winner, Dustin Johnson, ended 30 under. Woods’ best finish has been tied to 37th in the PGA Championship.

“You know, it has been a really embarrassing year for every one of us, together with the virus rather than needing to play with,” Woods explained. “The majors proceeded around, question mark on when we are going to play with the Tour, when we are going to play with the Tour, men testing positive. It has been a really — I feel a challenging season and hard season for anybody involved with the game of golf. But we are certainly coming out to the optimistic side”

Woods, as was the situation throughout the weekend, got swept up by the back nine on Sunday. He had his second bogey of the round on No. 15 then drove the ball at the water to get a one-stroke penalty on No. 17 for the second consecutive day. His fall shot struck the cart path, however he managed to salvage a double bogey rather than triple bogey such as he scored from the next round on that hole.

“Well, it is me missing the ball in the incorrect areas,” Woods explained. “When I overlooked in the right places I managed to progress in the right places, create putts, but when I overlooked them in bad places, this golf course will surely punish you”

With Woods’ 2019-20 PGA Tour formally over, he will change his attention on preparing for the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, that begins Sept. 17. Woods, like many other golfers,” stated Olympia Fields played like a U.S. Open class due to how hard it was.

The almost 3 weeks away will even help Woods with his spine. He explained his spine will always annoyance and be rigid sometimes because of him. It is merely a matter of he will have”good days and bad times.”

“I’d say attempting to wash my rounds up and trying to overlook the golf club in the right areas,” Woods said on which he will work on another few weeks. “As I said, I have not done that. It was fine playing a practice round and understanding exactly what I must manage. I will not have the ability to play rye till I reach the U.S. Open, therefore at least these past two weeks were quite great to play rye until I return home and clinic on Bermuda.”
