SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Steve Stricker and Miguel Angel Jimenez shared the lead going into the final round of This Sanford International, Together with Fred Couples, Darren Clarke and Kevin Sutherland a shot after a low-scoring day.

The sole player in Minehaha Country Club place to play weekly at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, Stricker birdied the par-5 16th and par-4 18th on Saturday to get a 6-under 64 to place 9-under 131.

“I enjoy my place and I will need to head out tomorrow and set up yet another fantastic round,” Stricker said. “That is my attention anyhow, to get out there and make birdies and attempt to not make any errors.”

The U.S. Ryder Cup captain won the inaugural event in 2018, then jumped his title defense this past year.

“I feel as if I am the defending champion,” Stricker said. “I have not been here since 2 decades before, but I love the design. You have got to place it in the appropriate spot. If you do not hit it in the fairway, occasionally hitting these tiny undulating greens is hard, as you watched a few short holes today that you wind up scrambling.”

Jimenez, the Spanish celebrity tied for the lead with David Toms and Dicky Pride following the rainy initial round, birdied the par-4 15th and 16 and 18 at a 66.

Clarke birdied the last four at a 62. Sutherland and Couples each taken 64.

“What a day! )” Clarke stated. “I performed so poorly yesterday. I played poorly, hit on the ball dreadful yesterday, went and watched a little YouTube and observed a little Instagram and discovered that a tiny tip from someone and came out and hit some balls this afternoon and thought,’Well, that felt pretty good”

Sutherland birdied his final three holes, playing alongside classmates.

“It is going to take some thing from the mid-60therefore, I believe,” Sutherland said. “It is only so packaged together. There’s men which are in 15th place which are just like three or two back. It is likely to take a very low one”

Couples holed from 97 yards for eagle on the par-4 ninth.

“I drove it into the rough, that was a fantastic lie, and I’d 97 yards,” Couples said. “I only cut a bit 54 and I could not find the gap, but I did not see it rebound. It was a real fast yell it moved . You do not do this quite often.”

Toms needed a 68 to collapse into a tie for sixth at 7 below with Bernhard Langer (65), Rod Pampling (63), Glen Day (64) and Woody Austin (65).

John Daly, two weeks after showing he is being treated for lung cancer, was under after a 66.

Country singer Colt Ford was last at the 81-person field in PGA Tour Champions debut. Playing a on a sponsor exemption, he also followed a opening 74 using a 78.
