Camilo Villegas’ daughter, Mia, has died at only 22 months old following cancerous tumors were discovered inside her spine and brain.
Four-time PGA Tour winner Villegas revealed last month he and his wife, Maria, took their kid to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital at Miami for scans in March since they guessed she wasn’t well.
Mia underwent operation following the tumors were discovered, and also the Villegas family was advised more treatment could be required because of persisting issues.
Villegas said during an emotional press conference at June:”Following the operation, as it was time to remove the stitches, they heard the expansion had become quite competitive.
“We had been told we had to begin treatment straight away, so that they kept us there. Physically, however, she was not prepared to acquire the type of chemo physicians were awaiting.”
Mia began alternative rounds of chemotherapy, but she died in Miami on Sunday.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement on Monday:”The PGA Tour is profoundly saddened having lost a part of our loved ones, Mia Villegas.
“We grieve with Camilo and Maria along with our thoughts and prayers are with the Villegas family”
