Sergio Perez says it’s”clear” who’d depart Racing Point when the group does signal Sebastian Vettel for its 2021 season.
Four-time world winner Vettel is currently in discussions with boxing Point over joining the group for next year after Ferrari opted against renewing his contract past this season.
Vettel verified that he’s in”loose discussions” with Racing Point,” but stated he hasn’t signed any agreement with the group.
Racing Point now has Perez and team-mate Lance Stroll under long term contracts. Perez is now in the initial year of a whole lot bargain, but the group has vowed to rule out both motorists remaining for 2021.
Stroll is the son of Racing Point proprietor Lawrence Stroll, which makes it possible he would stay with the group 2021 when it’s going to be rebranded as Aston Martin.
Perez emphasized last week he had a legitimate contract for next year, but has surrendered he would be prone to depart if Stroll Sr. decide to signal Vettel to partner his own son.
“I believe [the choice] is evident if a person must move,” Perez said in a meeting on Movistar+ F1.
“I am a father, I would not kick out my son, but there is not much I could say.
“You’ll find lots of [rumours] around. From mepersonally, nothing – everything stays the same. I have a contract with the group.”
Perez revealed last week he has been approached with a rival F1 group and teams at different championships about a driveway for 2021 in light of the rumours.
It’s been reported that there’s an exit clause in Perez’s contract that has to be triggered from the group for him to depart 2021 and also make space for Vettel.
Perez stated in the meeting that his contract will not have a break clause, regarding his own sponsorship agreements.
He’s enjoyed considerable backing from Mexican telecommunications giant Telmex.
“In most contracts, you will find constantly exemptions,” Perez explained.
“It’s is somewhat associated with sponsorship. That may open that clause.
“But we are working hard with our patrons so that this doesn’t occur.
“I wouldn’t say it is dependent on a single host, it’s more of a general matter.”
