As the Formula 1 driver marketplace for 2021 continues to warm, a variety of teams are starting to look at the futures of the youthful academy drivers.
The vast majority of all F1 teams possess some type of youthful driver programme, together with the most prominent belonging to the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, who’ve helped invent the livelihood of drivers like Esteban Ocon, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
However, with a few programmes getting notoriety for a number of their conclusion, frequently forcing teams to remember motorists they dropped, is there a case for its academy systems doing more damage than good? And so are they as powerful as they look in developing young talent?
