“Thus we are in need of somebody who’s able to understand all that, and understand that the value of all of the work, energy and integrity we’re placing into that. I am not saying that Daniel [Ricciardo] hasn’t known that, that is absolutely not what I am talking. I am discussing the future.

“So we’re speaking to a couple titles, a few big names, therefore lesser known names. We’re taking the moment, making certain there’s a fantastic alignment between what we are and exactly what a team is seeking to become in a group such as ours.”

Asked a week to get his ideas on Alonso as a possible team-mate at 2021, Ocon stated he’d be pleased if it occurred.

“My personal decision doesn’t have any relation to what the group will perform,” said the Frenchman. “I’ve got a fantastic connection with Fernando. The helmet I’ve and the only swap I did between the motorists was together with him.

“He had been the one with Michael [Schumacher], his struggles back in the afternoon, which gave me the most passion for the game.

“I do not know if he is going to join or not together with usbut definitely when he could return, I would be quite pleased.”
