Di Resta on standby for McLaren in F1 70th Anniversary GP – F1


Paul di Resta is going to probably be on standby at McLaren with this weekend 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in Silverstone after getting a chair fitting for the group on Wednesday.

McLaren has an arrangement with Mercedes to discuss its own reservations – Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutierrez – if routine drivers Carlos Sainz Jr. or Lando Norris be ruled from this race weekend.

However, with Vandoorne at Berlin for its Formula E season finale and Gutierrez ineligible to race, McLaren has verified that ex-Force India motorist di Resta are its nominated book for this particular weekend.

“As we’ve previously verified, we’ve got an agreement with Mercedes to utilize their book drivers if either Carlos or even Lando are not able to race,” an announcement by McLaren reads.

Di Resta spent three seasons racing in F1 with Force India involving 2011 and 2013, but made a surprise appearance at the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix for Williams later Felipe Massa came ill on Saturday morning.
