Egan Bernal’Does N’t Have regrets, I Attempted my best’ on failure to Shield Tour de France title

It is a cliché that winners are gracious in defeat as they’re in success, but this is what clarifies Egan Bernal.

On the afternoon before phase 15 of this Tour de France, the Ineos riders can be seen staring into the space when awaiting sign in to the day’s race. Perhaps he knew then how everything could unfold.

After dropping seven minutes about the Grand Colombier and falling out of contention for the general classification, Bernal did not shy away from instant questions regarding what had occurred, talking openly and passionately, confused as to the way he”felt vacant” when seeking to muster the capability to keep up with his competitions.

Following a day of contemplation followed by a rest day which could have given him a distance by the queen of this Tour de France, the 23-year old claims he has”no regrets” about the defence of his name, and that nobody can take his 2019 win from him.

“I feel somewhat better now, somewhat more relaxed since I don’t have any regrets about what I did yesterday, what I have done in this year. I tried my best at every point, we were battling complete gas for this particular race, this fantasy which we have had since the previous resort,” Bernal said.

“I gave everything I had, I had been fighting until the closing, by the very first climb of yesterday’s point, anguish [as the race went] total gas and that I nearly fell, but I needed to keep fighting before I was eventually dropped. That is it. I can not change it. That is cycling, that is life.”

Bernal says that he did not always feel that the pressure of sporting number one on his jersey, but he needed to honor the race and try to win , even when the sore back which has bothered him since the Critérium du Dauphiné was blunting his forces.

“Once I place the number one on, I knew it would be hard to win . I’ve loved it a whole lot, I simply tried daily to do my best, I do not believe I sensed tension, it was a sort of admiration for the race,” Bernal clarified.

The Colombian has faced criticism against his federal media after having the ability to match Roglič and Pogačar but is rebellious about that which he’s managed to attain in his early twenties.

“I’ve won one Tour de France currently and nobody can alter this. I had been the first Colombian driver to acquire it, I am very proud of this, of everything I did last year,” he explained. “At 22 years old I’d won one Tour de France. I am very happy due to this and for sure I shall try again, I am eager to win races, but when I do not win again nobody can alter that I have won ”

As for the remainder of the race, Bernal may attempt to win a point in the Alps, at which he had been expected to glow as the race climbed over two,00m of elevation, but only if his tender back makes it.

First of all, however, the humble Ineos guy would like to have a leaf from Chris Froome’s publication when locating himself off-form and require some bidons because of his team-mates.

“Primarily I’d love to recover a bit and try to help the men, perhaps take some bidons to them, attempt to do this sort of work I haven’t been performing. It is something that I need to do, assist the men take pleasure in the race,” Bernal said.

“Then I do not understand, try to go at a breakaway but without considering the GC. Maybe I will attempt to shed a little time and try to go at a stern, but it is dependent upon how I am feeling, too on my spine, since it is still somewhat painful.”
