Bob Jungels hit by ambulance on stage 15 of the Tour de France


Bob Jungels was hit by an ambulance throughout stage 15 of the Tour de France.

The Deceuninck – Fast-Step rider was within the gruppetto on the powerful mountain day, which completed up the Grand Colombier, when an ambulance sped previous on the course and clipped the Luxembourger.

Video footage captured by a spectator reveals the riders coming previous followers along with the highway because the ambulance beeps its horn.

Jungels is then clipped by the car, drawing cries from the spectators and riders trying again to examine if he’s okay.

Jungels arrived on the end in 43rd place, solely 20 minutes down on stage winner Tadej Pogačar regardless of the incident.

“The ambulance ran me over from behind, that was fairly one thing,” Jungels mentioned after the end, visibly banged up.

It was an eventful day for the 27-year-old, as earlier within the stage he was concerned in a crash with Sergio Higuita (EF Professional Biking), which noticed the Colombian abandon the race.

Jungels had swung throughout the highway after taking a flip pulling, sweeping Higuita’s entrance wheel because the rider regarded behind him.

“I used to be swinging off to the best after an assault, I didn’t see him on my proper aspect, sadly,” Jungels mentioned. “I will need to have hit his entrance wheel and yeah, I’m actually actually sorry to listen to he’s out of the race due to that crash. I don’t know what to say.

“Swinging off to make a rider come by to the entrance is one thing we normally do. I’m actually sorry if there’s something I’ve performed flawed, it’s very unlucky.”

Higuita managed to get again up and driving after the incident however then crashed once more shortly after, then quitting the race.

There was no signal of a head harm, and EF later confirmed the second crash had been as a result of a hand harm that meant Higuita couldn’t brake correctly.
