Amid the NBA shutdown along with a nationally quarantine, players have had free time to research one of their principal off-court passions: movie games.

Their competitiveness and trash-talking has taken over from arenas to internet championships streamed on Twitch. So, also, has their desire to acquire and also perform at the maximum level against other athletes. Plus they stay just as devoted to the craft, especially in a game in the Middle of this growing trend: Call of Duty: Warzone

Warzone, that fell in March and can be released by Activision, presents a brand new battle experience for longtime fans of the franchise. It has been a go-to for several gamers stuck in the home, such as Miami Heat big man Meyers Leonard along with New Orleans Pelicans shield Josh Hart–both of whom are headed to Orlando, FL shortly for the resume of this 2019-20 NBA season.

Asked whether he attracts the exact same mindset to Call of Duty he does to basketball,” Hart reacts:”Surely. I am very aggressive on the court, so if I am not getting that correct out of basketball, I get it out of COD. Suggestion: the throwing keyboards and controls.” [In a tournament two months ago, Hart got a little frustrated with his performance and took it out on his keyboard.]

“It is an wonderful feeling when you get that W, however,” he adds.

Josh describes himself as a”run and gun” participant. “I believe I am much better than I am,” he explains,”so that I push die and everyone half of the time.” If he were to gather an eventual Call of Duty team, then he would take experts Crowder, NickMercs and Warz.

Leonard, 28, was enjoying COD since the very first game came out in 2003. Obviously, he has managed to log additional time together with all the NBA on pause.

“I initially suffered a foot injury and then quarantine began, so I have probably played Call of Duty 4-6 hours each day based on rehabilitation, spending some time with my spouse, and working on additional off-court jobs,” he states.

Call of Duty has always been my favourite game since I like action-packed FPS gambling and also, I truly love playing with friends,” Leonard continues. “COD brings together the very best of both worlds–my passion for gambling and communication with my buddies.”

SLAM’s Duo Warzone Showdown, held last Saturday day and streamed live on Twitch, featured four squads. Team Alpha consisted of Faze Temperrr and Sixers point guard Ben Simmons; Team Bravo needed a set of celebrity athletes in Arizona–Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and Suns leader Devin Booker; Team Charlie showcased Leonard and SLAM’s Manager of eSports Development Zeno; and Team Delta was composed of Hart and famous photographer Gunner Stahl.

After two weeks, it was Team Charlie that emerged victorious. Their prize was 10,000, all which was contributed to the Dark Lives Issue motion.

Have a look at their scoring breakdown and a few highlights under:

“The championship on Saturday was unbelievable,” Leonard informs SLAM. “I have been playing with a ton of Warzone and’ve played quite a few championships however it was super enjoyable to pop and win the $10,000 for charity, that is going into the BLM movement!”

Warzone just surfaced improved content, such as a 200-player style and brand new sniping capabilities. And while basketball is set to come back in the end of July, men will still have downtime within the Disney World bubble to maintain gaming and advancing.

“The ability of NBA players who perform COD has surprised me,” Leonard says. “But it is so trendy to me that men are into gambling and the eSports area! It is just going to continue to acquire an increasing number of popularity!”
