PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police were cautioned by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Wednesday to take necessary steps as significant rain was expected to lash from a variety of cities throughout the province.
The KP PDMA stated as a result of heavy rains, landslides are worried in the upper areas of the state.
As stated by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a new spell of rains is very likely to begin at KP tomorrowwith showers expected in Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur.
Additionally, thundershowers will also be anticipated in Mardan, Nowshera, and Charsadda, ” the division said, adding that the isolated heavy rainfalls were anticipated to last indefinitely until Friday.
“Rain-thundershower with isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar,” that the PMD stated, adding the rainy season was anticipated to last in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan too.
“Heavy drops may create urban flood in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, [and] Lahore,” it noted, adding that landslides might be triggered in vulnerable regions of KP, GB, and Kashmir through the interval.
With respect to Karachi, the PMD stated the rain spell had subsided”and dry weather is forecast to prevail in many regions of the Sindh during following 10 times, using a couple of brief rains at some areas during the interval”.
“Dry weather conditions from Karachi will be reassuring for rescue/relief surgery during next 10 days,” it added.
