NAB arrests local govt secretary Roshan Shaikh in prohibited land allotment case
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday detained Sindh’s Local Government Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh following the Sindh High Court dismissed the latter’s bail plea filed against his arrest in a case having to do with the illegal allotment of government property.
The court, while hearing the situation now, commented that Shaikh and nine other people were engaged with the illegal allotment of property and abused their abilities as police officers. The court added that the suspects caused a reduction to the national exchequer and should consequently be arrested instantly.
The court issued orders for the arrest of Fazlur Rehman and others detained in the reference, such as Waseem, Nadeem Qadir Khokhar, Sabih Aslam along with others.
MQM’s Saif Abbas, Shoaib Memon and Shaukat Jokhio, who’ve been in jail for the past couple of years in relation to the situation, were allowed bail, together with the court ordering their immediate launch.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the Sindh Board of Revenue’d registered a mention against Shaikh and others, accusing them of allotting 265 acres of government property . The property, which was situated in Landhi, was allotted to the little cottage industry.
