LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday searched a response in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman and many others within fourteen days on a petition questioning faulty investigations from the plot allotment case against Jang Geo Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.
A division bench comprising Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem and Justice Farooq Haider handed the orders on a request filed by Asad Khurral.
A counselor on behalf of the petitioner contended that his customer provided evidence to NAB from Mir Shakil along with his loved ones — Mir Ibrahim, Mir Ismail, Shaheena Shakil and many others — at the prohibited plots allotment case.
In 1986, Mir Ibrahim Rahman had been 8 years old, Ayesha Rahman had been 6, Asma Rahman had been 4 and Mir Ismail Rahman was 1 year-old.
But, the agency just arrested Mir Shakil and no measure was removed from his family , that the petitioner complained.
He explained that the agency had”failed to take proper actions” against the arrested journalist’s household and it might benefit Mir Shakil in the trial period.
He pleaded with the court to direct the agency to nominate the co-accused from the reference, aside from putting their names to the Exit Control List.
The court, after hearing the debate, sought an answer from NAB police within a couple of weeks and adjourned further hearing.
