36 flapshell turtles found dead in Kamlanagar lake in Vadodara
Vadodara: The Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) has demanded a police complaint and in depth investigation into the death of 36 flapshell turtles from town.
The turtles have been discovered dead in Kamlanagar lake two weeks past along with the forest department has begun inquiry into the topic.
“Departure of numerous turtles is a critical issue. The lake has been given on rent to a builder for fishing from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). What makes the forest division not requesting the civic body to behave contrary to the builder?” Contested Raj Bhavsar of GSPCA, including that anglers utilize low grade explosives under the water to kill the fishes.
“It’s an illegal action and those blasts have contributed to the passing of these turtles. Such functions should be immediately ceased in different lakes also. I shall write to the police division and seek criminal complaint against the offenders,” Bhavsar added. Hesaid that they’ve made many complaints to the authorities about fishermen employing the method of hammering low grade explosives in Mahi River, also.
