Gujarat: 18 Vadodara Central Jail inmates test positive for Covid-19 | Vadodara News


VADODARA: Lebanese offenders of Vadodara Central Jail tested positive for coronavirus during Saturday night.
Samples of 25 offenders were randomly shot a week. Of those 25, 18 offenders proven to be optimistic. But all 18 offenders are curable and have been declared at particular Covid-19 ward in SSG Hospital. “We’d randomly accepted samples of inmates who were over the age of age 60 years. We’ve recognized that the prison staff who’d come in touch with these offenders,” said prison superintendent Baldevsinh Vaghela. Five prison staffers filed their samples Sunday and their reports are awaited.
Before too, two inmates had tested positive. Among those offenders, who had been admitted into a hospital in Ahmedabad for operation, had tested positive and yet another inmate who had been connected with him had contracted the virus.
Jail officials stated they are taking precautions and subsequent protocols to make certain the virus doesn’t spread one of the inmates and prison staff. “Any fresh prisoner with regard to prison is kept in isolation in a different barrack for fourteen days. They’re shifted to routine barracks just after their isolation interval finishes,” Vaghela said.
The fundamental prison has more than 1,300 inmates such as under-trials and people arrested under Prevention of Anti-Social Tasks (PASA) Act.
