THANE: The civil company will currently penalise those seen moving outside without wearing masks because a stern step to motivate residents to honor with safety standards since the Covid count in the lake town is steadily climbing.
An order issued by municipal commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma, Friday, mandates a penalty of rs 500 on people found not wearing masks in public areas. “We’ve issued new directive to create wearing masks mandatory in public areas previously. But, several residents are seen flouting the standards and threatening infections, after which the government was forced to devise the stern actions,” said an official.
Thus, all civic area staff have been permitted to withhold spot penalties on people found flouting the criteria and not wearing masks. The emphasis will be on pedestrians, bikers and people with public transportation and manners where there’s risk of contamination and consequently levy the punishment that needs to be accompanied by a valid receipt, said officials.
