THANE: 2 undertrials escaped from a prison in Kalyan city in Thane district on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The two guys, who have been facing charges of theft and robbery, scaled the walls of the lobby block in the Adharwadi prison and escaped about 5. 30am, an official from Khadakpada police station stated.
The accused had been identified as Shyam Chavan (23), a resident of Bhiwandi township at Thane, also Avinash Gaikwad (21), hailing from the country’s Aurangabad district,” he explained.
Gaikwad was lodged at the prison since January this season while Chavan was attracted to the centre in May, ” the officer said.
They had been involved in a variety of crimes, including theft and vandalism, in various regions of Thane district,” he explained, including search was on to both accused.
