SILVASSA: Five labourers died and two were wounded when a recently assembled wall of a mill collapsed because of heavy rains close Silvassa town at the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, authorities said on Wednesday. The incident happened at Surangi village, approximately 16 kilometers from headquarters Silvassa, on Tuesday night, inspector Harish Rathod of Khanvel police station stated.
The labourers were hired by a builder to build a mill construction and were residing in a temporary refuge close to the compound wall, that was constructed a couple of months before, he explained.
“After a significant spell of rains, the wall fell to the labourers who had been asleep, killing five of these on the place,” he stated, adding both injured employees were rushed to a local hospital.
The dead labourers, who were natives of neighboring Sindoni village, are identified as Raju Jadav, Ashvin Jayram, Balu Kakal, Jahir Soma and Anil, ” the official stated.
