Clinic ransacked after doc denied treating girl | Surat News


Surat: 2 cops such as a police-sub-inspector were hurt in a battle with natives in Velda village at Nizar taluka of Tapi district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the battle happened when locals ransacked a practice at the village on allegations of the personal practitioner supposedly refusing to deal with a girl regardless of their repeated entreaties. Following the girl died, the villagers gathered in the website and destroyed the land.
“Local villagers approached Dr Jayesh Patil on Monday night searching for his aid after a female’s health deteriorated. However, the physician allegedly failed to offer help which resulted in her death. The information about the physician’s refusal propagate in the village such as wildfire and soon an angry mob collected close to his clinic. They ransacked Patil’s practice and burned off the furniture along with other health care equipment of his practice on the street,” said a police officer.
After the incident, police hurried to the place and tried to pacify the agitated mob but they rather attacked the cops also, resulting in the 2 cops such as PSI R H Loh becoming hurt in the melee.
“The wounded employees were hurried into the Community Health Centre in Nizar where they are within treatment and said to be out of risk,” cops said.
