AAI asks SMC to construct street outdoor airport | Surat News

Surat: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has asked the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to build road on the outside of the perimeter wall of Surat Airport towards the shrimp ponds from Dumas to Udhana-Magdalla to assess intrusion of wild critters to the airport.
They stated the 4.5 kilometre long street might be used for the review and surveillance action. On the other hand, the AAI reported that it will not have the ability to finance the street building.
Discussing with TOI, Airport manager, Aman Saini stated,”We’ve asked the SMC for constructing street on the outside of the perimeter wall close to the fish pond to its routine review of the region. We’ve given this proposal through the recently held Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting”
Asked when the AAI will invest money on the street building, Saini said,”It isn’t our territory it’s not in our authority too. It isn’t our job to build street, we’re building airports. We’ve got a street within the ceiling and review has been done frequently.”
A senior officer of SMC seeking anonymity said,”Constructing 4.5 kilometers street is more pricey and nowhere at different cities that the municipal company is constructing roads on the outside of the perimeter wall of the airport. Vast majority of the land has to be acquired for road building since they’re possessed by private parties.”
Back in April 2019, four jackals were seen on the performance side of the airport which they had been rescued by the forest department.
