RANCHI: Jharkhand assembly building was shut on Thursday until July 27 following three MLAs and a couple of personnel tested positive for Covid-19 lately.
On Wednesday, Ranchi MLA CP Singh became the third MLA to have tested positive for the disease.
Speaking to TOI, speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto explained that he’s ordered closure of the construction until Monday as a precaution to control the transmission series. He stated,”Together with three MLAs analyzing positive so far, and a couple of staff, we made a decision to shut the meeting assumptions for a couple of days and suspend all of the meetings to ensure sanitisation activities can occur.”
He explained that over 600 employees work in the meeting secretariat and orders are given to those who came in contact with some contaminated persons or have some slightest signs for themselves examined as security.
Although monsoon session is not likely this time because of the pandemic, but gathering staffs and legislators going a variety of sub-committees frequently pay a visit to your premises to hold meetings or carry out regular functions. Especially, a week, CP Singh who heads a sub-committee had seen the meeting assumptions for signing a couple of documents.
Jharkhand assembly now has 79 MLAs whereas the powerful strength of the home is 81. Two chairs — Dumka and Bermo are empty. After taking oath in January this year, chief minister Hemant Soren vacated Dumka chair to keep Barhait. Bermo seat fell vacant after the passing of Congress’s MLA Rajendra Singh in May this year. By-polls are expected on both the chairs.
Ahead of Ranchi MLA Singh, Garhwa MLA-cum-state drinking water and sanitation section ministry Mithilesh Thakur and Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto had tested positive from the first week of July. On Tuesday night, Thakur was discharged from Rims at Ranchi after becoming cured of this virus however Mahto is undergoing therapy in TMH, a private hospital conducted by Tata Steel at Jamshedpur.
