RAJKOT: Saurashtra University (SU) has made a decision to give around Rs 1 lakh as ex gratia to the pupils who get contaminated by coronavirus inside 15 days of taking examinations.
At least 14,000 pupils are expected to take the final examinations starting July 25.
The tests were rescheduled because of the lockdown. The examinations for medical, paramedical and most of post-graduate courses will begin from August 4.
Each of the exams will finish on August 10.
Pupils who get contaminated will be offered treatment in the hospitals within their respective districts and each of the expenses on medication, remain in hospitals or Covid care centers for medical care and many others will be reimbursed. This will be done on the basis of supporting files which might need to be depositied using a wellness support committee made to eliminate the claims associated with this strategy.
“The choice to give ex gratia was chosen to instil confidence among pupils so they can take examinations,” said SU expert vice-chancellor Vijay Desani.
The test centres also have been improved along with the seating arrangements are made to empower social distancing.
“Ordinarily, 30 pupils are accommodated in 1 block of a test center, but considering the Covid scenario, we’ll let only 15,” he explained.
The decision was taken from the syndicate meeting held on Tuesday after protest by student unions over conducting examinations during pandemic. The advantages will be extended to all those pupils who get infected in 15 days of looking in examinations.
The schools which are going to be transformed into examination centers might need to sanitize the chambers daily following the examination and sporting masks will be mandatory during whole exam period.
The schools are needed to utilize thermal firearms to assess the temperature of pupils going into the examination halls.
Students, that cannot take the examination as a result of ill health or people found unfit in thermal screening, will be given an opportunity to look in the supplementary examinations following a month.
