RAJKOT: A dispute over farm borders took a horrible twist in Kutch if a former sarpanch was brutally hacked to death with a bunch of almost 28 individuals on the outskirts of Taga village of Rapar taluka on Thursday.
Authorities said the group of assailants headed by Haji Fakir Mohammed Hingroja, Nazar Mamad Hingroja, Din Mamad Hingroja and Tar Mamad Hingroja assaulted 50-year-old Sajan Gaghala (50).
“They had been lying in wait for Gaghala about the best way to his farm. When Gaghala drove into the place in his eponymous, they pulled him down from the tractor and hacked him with knives, scythes, axes, knives and iron pipes. Gaghala expired on the place,” stated A P Jadeja, sub-inspector with Adesar police channel.
Preliminary research indicated that there was a bitter dispute within indicating the boundaries of the farms belonging to Gaghala and the accused.
The episode sparked a widespread protest among the members of the Rabari community who had thronged the government in Rapar. The community members, that had come from Rapar, Samakhiyali and Adesar, originally refused to maintain the entire body, requiring the immediate arrest of the assailants. But following the authorities promised them of actions, they accepted that the entire body.
