Earthquake in Rajkot: 4.5 magnitude earthquake hits Gujarat’s Rajkot | Rajkot News


RAJKOT: An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale hit Rajkot in Gujarat on Thursday morning, informed the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR).
Strong tremors were felt in Rajkot and other parts of Saurashtra at 7:40am. According to ISR, the tremor was measured 4.8 the epicentre of the quake was 19 km from Rajkot near Tramba. There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or injuries.

“It was scary, I was in deep sleep and felt that a big vehicle is passing by, but by that time I felt my bed was trembling and I rushed out of my apartment,” said Bhavin Patel a resident of Sadhuvasvani Road.
“As per primary report a ceiling of a trust run school in Kolithad village of Gondal and a compound wall of Vasavad sub health center have collapsed. We have sent a team to verify if these properties were damaged due to the quake or if they were damaged earlier,” said A R Ranavasia, district development officer Rajkot.
According to reports, there were cracks on the walls of some of the village houses. The tremor was also felt in other parts of Saurashtra like Amreli, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Porbandar and Devbhumi Dwarka. Chief minister Vijay Rupani took stock of the situation from the district collectors of Rajkot, Surendrangar and Amreli.
