IMD forecasts heavy rain in Maharashtra ghats, river basins | Pune News


PUNE: River basins and ghats in areas of Maharashtra may get heavy rain at isolated areas throughout the upcoming few days, said that the Met department.
Based on a forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, Pune could get moderate showers next couple of days. These showers can be accompanied by thunder and lightning action till September 11, stated Anupam Kashyapi, mind of weather, IMD, Pune.

Many areas of the town have been getting intense bouts of rain due to convective activity, since the day temperatures has jumped to above-normal levels. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Shivajinagar has been 33.1°C — as far as 4.6 levels above normal. In Lohegaon, it had been 32.9°C, approximately 4 levels over usual.
According to the IMD records, the rain in both places was nil out of 8. 30am to 5. 30pm Wednesday. However there were reports of sporadic showers in various areas of the city in the day.
Kashyapi stated,”Largely, the top air flow and overseas trough are providing moisture from southern-western pieces of the nation. However, monsoon present doesn’t look much powerful till September 11. There could be cases of clouding interspersed with sun for a few times due to this reason. The daytime temperature in Pune could hover between 32°C and 34°C, which might lead to isolated to scattered (in certain areas of the town ) neighborhood instability. Because of this, there might be formation of convective clouds throughout the day with rain, together with an extreme spell, and thunder action until September 11.”
Kashyapi stated the monsoon is expected to be strong for a few days in Maharashtra in September 12, in affiliation with the creation of a low pressure region over the Bay of Bengal on September 13. It meansthe rain in parts of Maharashtra is very likely to rise in September 12-13.
