Shortly after taking off from the Patna airport with a state-owned helicopter, the CM in the earliest undertook a poll of flood-affected regions in Samastipur, Begusarai and Khagaria districts at the catchment region of Burhi Gandak river. Then he flew over many regions in Saharsa, Supaul and Bhagalpur that have been inundated by the floodwaters from Kosi river.

Accompanied by the nation’s chief secretary Deepak Kumar, chief secretary to the CM Chanchal Kumar along with the WRD secretary Sanjiv Hans, Nitish also flew across Ganga river in Bhagalpur and Katihar districts. He made an aerial survey of unique cubes of Katihar, Purnia, Kishanganj and Araria districts that have been bombarded by Mahananda, Parman and Kankai rivers.

Nitish afterwards held a review meeting with Purnia divisional commissioner Ms Safina A N along with also the Purnia DM Rahul Kumar in the seminar hall of this Chunapur airstrip at Purnia. He took advice about the flooding and Covid-19 situation in the area in the officials.
The CM also asked about the preparations made by the district government to manage the challenges of flooding in the region. “Even though the water-level of unique rivers in the area is presently low, the chance of flooding will stay until the end of September month. Therefore, the government should stay in alert manner and be ready,” Nitish informed the officials following the inspection meeting.
JD(U) MLA and former minister Lesie Singh was present during the inspection meeting.
The CM further requested the officials to reevaluate testing for Covid-19 in those regions where there’s a chance of birth of flooding. In addition, he requested the Purnia DM to prepare a Covid-19 testing camp in the Chunapur airbase.
The CM afterwards flew into Birpur at Supaul district. In Birpur, he scrutinized eastern embankment of Kosi river and issued necessary instructions to the officers.
