PATNA: Ahead of assembly polls in Bihar, CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday launched a collection of power projects worth Rs 4,855. 37 crore via video-conferencing from’Nek Samvad’ hallway at his home at 1, Anney Marg, here.
Of the entire amount, Rs ,130. 54 crore has been spent on replacing old and overburdened electric wires in various areas of the state.
Addressing the inaugural occasion, CM said the state government’s programme to give electricity link to all families under the’Har Ghar Bijli Lagataar’ programme finished in October, 2018; 2 weeks ahead of the deadline for finishing the job in December 2018; and most of rickety wires throughout the country were substituted from the end of December, 2019.
“I wish that consumers have to be supplied a prepaid meter so the frequent complaints concerning overbilling becomes something of the past. Once, a prepaid meter is set up, folks will use power according to their need and recharge their meter beforehand as they recharge prepaid cell phone connection. Afterward, there’ll not be any complaints over charging,” Nitish stated and requested the electricity officials to reevaluate the continuing work of providing prepaid meters to all customers.
CM said the Centre had previously embraced Bihar government’s strategy for supplying electricity link to every home, today it was likely to embrace our strategy of prepaid meter to every consumer.
The CM farther said that there would be no curtailment from subsidy being supplied to power users despite adverse financial situation because of covid-19 pandemic.
“Our government will continue to provide subsidies and the rest of the facilities to electrical customers despite adverse situations prevailing in the country because of Covid-19 pandemic,” he explained.
CM said the state government was now spending 6,000 crore per annum for payment of subsidy to electrical customers and this subsidy could last.
“I’ve already declared to give irrigation water to every farm land throughout the country, if folks give me another opportunity to serve them” Nitish stated and added the branches such as Water Resources, small water sources and energy would operate on the strategy of supplying irrigation water to farm property.
CM farther asked the energy division officials to take necessary actions to promote solar power throughout the state.
