NOIDA: Three alleged drug traffickers were detained in Noida while attempting to inject 85 kg of cannabis to Delhi NCR, police said on Thursday.
Authorities also captured the narcotic consignment and recognized the detained accused as Delhi inhabitants Vijay Sharma and Shahid and Bulandshahr indigenous Arif.
This was the fourth significant drug haul in a fortnight from the Gautam Buddh Nagar authorities.
Before on June 27, three alleged drug traffickers were held following a shootout at Greater Noida and 300 kg of cannabis, procured by Andhra Pradesh, was captured from them, officials explained.
Another three alleged traffickers were stored in Greater Noida earlier that while transporting 30 pound of cannabis into Delhi NCR on June 24.
Others were caught hauling 200 kg of cannabis from the area on June 19, ” the officials stated.
In the most recent instance, the accused had been intercepted close to a drain between Sector 16 and 17 of Noida on Wednesday night using the prohibited consignment valued at greater 12 lakh, the authorities said.
“You will find eight sacks of cannabis weighing 85 kgs within a tempo. Preliminary inquiry disclosed that the accused had procured the substance from beyond the NCR and wished to sell it in Delhi NCR,” Noida’s added deputy commissioner of Police Ranvijay Singh stated.
The Chhattisgarh-registered speed used for its hauling the contraband’s consignment also was impounded, he added.
The accused had been detained earlier by Ghaziabad and Meerut authorities, he stated, including the Noida authorities is farther discovering their criminal antecedents.
An FIR has been registered in Sector 20 police station under terms of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the accused have been remanded to judicial custody, the police included.
