Ghaziabad: The state government has agreed to add 15 ambulances into the district health department’s fleet to assist it ferry patients easily. Citing a sudden spurt in the amount of Covid instances, the Ghaziabad health division had asked the state department to get much more ambulances.
“We’d put a petition of 15 committed ambulances to ferry covid patients together with the state authorities as we had been interfering with its own shortage. The state government has accepted our need and soon, we’d be incorporating those ambulances to our fleet,” said an official from heath department.
Presently, the section has 14 committed ambulances of its own and had obtained about 30 more from hospitals.
An official stated there is yet another reason why the demand for more ambulances has been sensed. “Until lately, we’d Covid hospitals inside the district. Now, however, because of increase in number of instances that stands at two,283 using 1,251 active circumstances, we needed to install Covid hospitals at faraway places like Newari and Modinagar,” said the official. He added that over a typical, an ambulance takes roughly two weeks to ferry patients to those Covid hospitals that are far in the town’s municipal limits, which was affecting the transport of Covid patients. “Thus, the demand for much more ambulances was sensed and we put the petition with the state authorities,” he explained.
While there’s a 200-mattress Covid hospital at Newari, 60percent of that are inhabited as of today, the 250-mattress Covid hospital at Modinagar has 65% occupancy.
Aside from getting two Covid hospitals around the outskirts, the health department has established two more in town’s municipal limits — one situated in Sahibabad and another within Santosh Hospital at New Bus Stand — in which the remainder of the Covid sufferers have been retained.
