NOIDA: though the ban on tobacco and sale of cigarettes within 100 yards of any educational establishment was initiated before in the district, on August 15 the Gautam Buddh Nagar district magistrate employed the ministry of social justice and empowerment’s’Nasha Mukt Bharat’ (drug-free India) effort 2020-21.
Under the programme, a 10-manhood district-level committee is formed led by the district magistrate comprising of the police commissioner, district judge, district education officerand regional joint manager (Instruction ), retired senior civil servants that contributed to the trigger, NGOs working in the sphere of alcohol and drugs avoidance, a state-level coordination agency in the lack of Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) at the district, state coordinator of the Ministry of Social Justice and district social welfare group (DSWO).
The committee is led to concentrate on comprehension, identification and treatment efforts from tobacco, alcohol and drugs intake in the field.
For this, an outreach programme will be initiated at all higher educational associations, college campuses and colleges together with community outreach and identification of prosperous populations and concentrate on therapy centers in hospitals etc.
While pupils’ clubs will be formed at universities and schools to create consciousness, pupils who eat more tobacco in the district will be recognized and taken to committed healthcare centers for therapy even as advice available and purchase of tobacco, medications and narcotics will be tracked by the committee.
“This is a really important social cause. The district level committee constituted for its drug-free India effort will operate on important facets and regions like identifying determined populations, focusing on counselling and therapy centers in hospitals and rehab centers, coordinating capacity building applications for service providers etc.. Pupils, parents and teachers in schools and schools in the district is going to be made aware of the effort whilst information regarding the injury from tobacco will likely be imparted through the campaign,'” explained GB Nagar DM Suhas LY.
Aside from that, the committee will draw out a strategy for counselling and therapy of addicts, track consultations and remedies and ensure rigorous ban of the sale of cigarettes within 100 yards of any educational establishment.
The DM farther said the purpose of the effort was supposed to cleanse the subject of the menace, with the collaboration of the Government of India and people’s involvement.
While the ministry of social justice and empowerment is the nodal agency for Drug Demand Reduction (DDR), the Present schemes for medication de-addiction are converged in the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) combining efforts of the Government of India, state/UT authorities and implementing agencies such as NGOs, Trusts, autonomous organisations and organisations etc.
