NAGPUR: Since the coronavirus cases jumped after easing of curbs here, civic police on Friday declared a’janta curfew’ at Nagpur town of Maharashtra on Saturday and Sunday to confirm the spread of this disease.
Nagpur civil commissioner Tukaram Mundhe declared the imposition of’janta curfew’ on Saturday and Sunday (July 25 and 26) from town, but said vital services will remain operational during the interval.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of elected representatives and the civic government here.
Speaking to colleagues, Mundhe stated for the previous 8 10 days, the civic government was trying to push “Covid-19 compliant behavioural shift in taxpayers”.
“We have opted to implement two-day janta curfew to attract public awareness regarding behavioural change towards Covid-19 rules. However, if these principles aren’t followed, then a strict curfew may be levied from town,” that the IAS officer cautioned.
“We’re appealing to citizens to engage and support the janta curfew and change their behavior and also help crack the coronavirus transmission series,” explained Mundhe.

“Merely medical stores, health care centers and milk sockets will stay open. All markets will stay closed,” Mundhe explained.
“Citizens should stay inside and alter their behavior to abide by Covid-19 instructions to help break the transmission chain,” he explained.
The variety of coronavirus sufferers in Nagpur district have taken up following the easing of lockdown below the state administration’s”Mission Begin Again” initiative.
Nagpur on Thursday reported 172 brand new coronavirus instances, taking the tally to 3,465 from the district, although the death toll came at 64.
