Nagpur’s new CP Amitesh Kumar
NAGPUR: Amitesh Kumar, an IPS officer of 1995 batch, will assume the reigns of town authorities from BK Upadhyay as Maharashtra authorities reshuffled the nation polices’ senior officers on Wednesday.
Upadhyay, following a successful stint of over a couple of years in town, are taking over the cost of traffic.
Kumar, erstwhile joint commissioner of state intelligence division (SID), is coming into city after 13 years. “Together with my best professional abilities, I wish to take the policing to greater degree,” he explained.
Since zonal DCP, Kumar’s name is related to the investigation into allegations against West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels at 2007 because of his supposed link with bookie Mukesh Kochar, using connections with Dawood Ibrahim’s syndicate, that had been under scanner of ICC. The probe, headed by Kumar beneath the afterward CP SPS Yadav, had contributed to prohibit Samuels for few year from international cricket under the match-fixing charges. Kumar had briefed the ICC’s unique security team at authorities gymkhana and had passed over the significant tapes of discussions between Samuels and Kochar.
Kumar was among those 3 DCPs in town in 2006 who needed to struggle the Khairlanji protesters on street once the area was simmering in pressure.
