Covid-19: Deaths spike in Vidarbha; Nagpur worst struck in area | Nagpur News


NAGPUR: Vidarbha area, that has 11 districts at both revenue divisions of Nagpur and Amravati, has been seeing an unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases since the start of September. With over 30,000 instances reported in only 11 days of September, complete instances from the area spanned the 90,000 markers on Friday.
Sudden increase in casualties is that the fact of Vidarbha’s Covid-19 scenario.
It is only 11 days of September and the area has witnessed 56 more deaths because of Covid-19 compared with the whole month of August-previously believed a summit month.
In September, the government had to alter all projections and also bring new figures to take care of the new peak, expected at the middle of this month.
Nearly all areas of the area are already facing a shortage of air beds, ICU and ventilator facilities. The worst-hit is Nagpur-the second capital of Maharashtra and also the largest city in Vidarbha. Nagpur alone accounts for over 56percent of total Covid-19 instances and 67% deaths in the area up to now. Back in September, the district has observed 40 deaths every day on an average. With the inclusion of almost 1,500 instances every day, Nagpur district touched 51,336 on September 11. Following Mumbai, Pune and also Pimpri-Chinchwad business regions, Nagpur is the fourth largest from the country to cross the 50,000 mark.
