NAGPUR: Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, accompanied by stare protector ministry Nitin Raut, conducted surprise checks in the sand ghats on Tuesday after complaints of illegal mining at the Nagpur district.
The home ministry was accompanied by divisional commissioner Sanjeev Kumar, collector Ravindra Thakare and senior police officers such as IG Mallikarjun Prasanna and SP Rakesh Ola.
Deshmukh had taken a review meeting of the illegal excavations of this sand ghats and unauthorized transportations around a fortnight past. On Tuesdsy, the home minister had summoned to the senior officials for inspection of the actions taken after his final meeting on the problem.
Deshmukh chose to have a surprise inventory of the situation in the followup to his most recent meeting in the office of the divisional commissioner.
Deshmukh has been learnt to have seen the police channels of Khapa, Saoner and Mouda from the coastal region where greatest sand ghats can be found. In addition, he seen an illegal sand dumping website at Khapa at which the house Minsiter ordered seizure of trucks and JCB machine after seeing them buried in the area.
