Mandya: Villagers at Dasanadoddi of Malavalli taluk at Mandya district have complained to the district government against Kamegowda, the’Pond Man‘ whose nature-conservation attempts shot to national fame following PM Narendra Modi said him ‘Mann Ki Baat‘ programme lately.
The villagers’ grouse is that Kamegowda is claiming he has assembled 16 ponds, and bothering them in obtaining a grazing field.
From the complaint, signed 70 villagers and filed to Mandya DC M V Venkatesh on Monday, it’s alleged that Kamegowda is claiming nature-made ponds as his job.
“Just he would like to get the area having ponds, rather than others. The ponds, that Kamegowda promised to have constructed, are all natural — rather than artificial. Moreover, no individual could construct those (amount ) of ponds ,” they stated.
The villagers also billed Kamegowda with strangely extracting sand out of ponds. “He’s captured the interest of this authtories after being said in Mann Ki Baat. Emboldened with this, he’s behaving as the sole owner of the full grazing land. He’s even threatening us with us false cases,” the complaint stated.
The villagers have advocated the DC to perform a spot review to examine the veracity of all Kamegowda’s claims, and take back the honours bestowed on him whenever they’re proved false.
