Mysuru: A day after three pupils tested positive for Covid-19 before yearly examinations, the University of Mysore (UoM) has stepped up preventative and social networking measures.
Resources at the varsity told TOI that over two,500 post graduate last year pupils coming beneath the varsity constraints in Mysuru, Mandya Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts will likely be writing their examinations scheduled to start from September 21. Aside from those, over 30,000 last year pupils in its own limitations will also be emerging for the examination this year.
As pupils are coming from their native areas to submit their job reports and participate in consultative meetings with their teachers by staying in hostels, the varsity is wary from Covid and made all preparations to run examinations successfully.
Tow rounds of instruction was granted to principals of colleges and heads of 65 PG branches about conducting the examinations adhering to social distancing and standard operating procedures issued from the authorities and during student-teacher appointment meeting, entry of laboratory reports, attending laboratory, visiting library and hostels from the campus.
“Considering outbreak of Covid-19, we’ve stepped frequency of cleansing campus areas and amenities, and maintained the hostels and their environment clean by sanitizing frequently and this will last” said registrar R Shivappa. Temperature screening is also being performed for PG students, research scholars and additional inmates staying in most of the 18 hostels, two times every day. Except test related function, all extra-curricular actions are cancelled to include the disease. Laboratory sessions are limited. The varsity has deputed three physicians to guarantee treatment for sickly pupils in the campus hospital.
“If any pupil, staff or teacher is experiencing respiratory ailments as well as other Covid symptoms, they need to notify the varsity government immediately. They ought to be permitted to return and write examinations only once they are treated. There’s a special provision in these instances to write examinations in different dates decided by the varsity. The varsity has retained different hostels ready if staff or students have to be isolated,” vice-chancellor G Hemanthkumar stated.
