Mandya: Dasanadoddi is among many cities in Malavalli taluk at Mandya, and one which few outside the district had heard of until Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most up-to-date variant of’Mann Ki Baat‘. The guy who turned the interest of the entire nation for the hamlet is Kamegowda, that has generated 16 ponds in Dasanadoddi single-handed to a bare land. His singular accomplishment received compliments from PM Modi in his address on the air.
Kamegowda, an octogenarian, called the’Pond Man‘, stated he chose to dig the ponds so as to make sure his sheep as well as other livestock of those inhabitants in Dasanadoddi and neighboring villages had sufficient water. “My attempts have yielded desired outcomes. There’s a great deal more water now, and it’s also helping afforestation efforts. We don’t know anything apart from saving character,” explained Kamegowda.
Mandya district president of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha Shambunahalli Suresh hailed Kamegowda’s attempts, dubbing the latter an outstanding person. “We are fortunate to have these people about us, also we have to attempt to emulate their actions,” Suresh added.
