Mumbai: Police inspector urged to Covid-19; 75th passing in town induce | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: A 53-year old inspector connected to Vakola police channel succumbed to Covid-19 early on Sunday. Inspector Xavier Rego, who’d lately been hospitalised following a road crash, was on leave and has been still recovering. His Covid evaluation report came positive afterwards on Sunday following his departure.
A 1993 batch police inspector, Rego was previously connected to Dindoshi police station before being moved to Vakola police channel. About a fortnight ago, he had been involved in a bicycle accident and suffered a fracture. He had been still recovering at home. For the previous 3 days or so, Rego had been growing a fever. “Around 5. 30am on Sunday, Rego abruptly collapsed and fell unconscious on the bathroom floor. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital, in which he had been declared dead,” stated Manjunath Singe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone 8).
Physicians stated Rego had suffered a heart attack. Samples were subsequently sent analyzing for Covid-19. This is actually the 75th passing in the Mumbai Police force.
