Cidco Matheran Tapping Stage
NAVI MUMBAI: Citizens and activists have advocated the regional government to check and curb specific illegal activities happening near the’Cidco Matheran Tapping Point’ at New Panvel (east).
In a letter written to Cidco from activist Anarjit Chauhan, it’s said that a illegal encroachment is currently being built close to the primary water pipeline, beside the Railway Officers Residential Colony at New Panvel, near the Matheran Tapping Point.
“that I also have said in my criticism letter which the regional taxpayers have reported that water pilferage can also be occurring out of the water line, that is quite severe. If any illegal drop or encroachment comes up alongside the horizon, then I’m sure more water thefts will happen in the not too distant future,” said Chauhan.
When TOI contacted the Cidco executive engineer (water source ), Rahul Sarode, he explained:”While the Matheran Tapping Point in the website belongs to people, the adjacent water line consists of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) agency. I’ve obtained the correspondence in the activist, and thus that the ideal section must ask.”
But, Chauhan concluded:”I also have advised that the Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) concerning the encroachment close to the pipeline. Even Cidco has its demolition squad that are permitted to do it. Our main priority is the water distribution lines should not be tampered with, and that no encroachment ought to be permitted to come up .”
