Mangaluru: Peeved in the perceived significance given to this Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at a variety of events which Mangalore University conducts, pupils related to National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a demonstration contrary to the university on Monday. Their ire was seemingly stoked by a movement by the university to sponsor a conference on’NEP 2020: Pragmatic Education Coverage for aspirational India,’ collectively with ABVP and CESC, Bengaluru.
NSUI activists headed by Farooq Bayabe, state secretary of the Congress’ student wing tried to storm the University College that was the conference venue. Together with Mangaluru city police employees maintaining the protesters at bay in the gate, the activists raised slogans against PS Yadapadithaya, the vice-chancellor. Afterward, under strict vigil, they had been permitted up to the conference venue where they raised slogans against this perceived prejudice.
Farooq afterwards told TOI:”Aim of this demonstration was supposed to oppose unbridled accessibility that ABVP has into the college, that’s the custodian of pupils from all segments of society rather than supposed to pander to a specific organisation,” he explained.
