Govt mother on overcharging pvt hospitals: Ex-MLC | Mangaluru News


Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee’s (DCC) Covid Helpline chairman Ivan D’Souza lambasted the government for allegedly not providing appropriate facilities in government hospitals.
Ivan, a former MLC, stated on Monday the government has completely failed in Covid-19 administration from the nation. “Government hospitals don’t have any appropriate facilities to take care of Covid-19 patients. Patients are dying because of lack of ventilators, and beds in ICUs,” he explained.
“Meanwhile, private hospitals are charging Covid-19 patients exorbitantly. A private hospital at Belagavi charges Rs 35,000 – Rs 50,000 to get a semi-private ward and Rs 50,000 — Rs 65,000 to get a private room every day. Hospitals charge around Rs 75,000 daily for deluxe rooms. The authorities and health minister maintain mum even when personal hospitals exploit the bad. Will personal medical schools book beds for Covid-19 patients in this scenario?” He explained.
On centers in Dakshina Kannada, Ivan said the district facing lack of ventilators. “The government must sanction longer ventilators to get Wenlock District Hospital, in which Covid-19 instances are admitted. The district requires at least 50 longer ambulances and 10 ought to be booked for Mangaluru,” he explained.
About Covid-19 deaths in Dakshina Kannada, Ivan reported the report on grounds for deaths in the district level expert committee needs to be made public. He urged the authorities to create provisions for near relatives to share in the funerals of both Covid-19 victims. “The central government’s recommendations make it possible for individuals to observe the entire body of Covid-19 sufferers after precautions,” he explained.
A group of 50 volunteers of DCC’s Covid Helpline was working to assist patients and run the last rites of sufferers, he added.
