Only 1 hour rain exposes town’s bad drainage system | Ludhiana News


Ludhiana: Less than a hour rain on Tuesday day submerged many town streets under water, providing tough time to the commuters in reaching their destinations. While for some it was a breather in the humid weather, but for a lot of people this rain brought troubles since they got stuck midway.
Water-logging has been seen on Chandigarh Road, Haibowal, Chander Nagar, Clock Tower, Raikhy Cinema chowk, Shingaar Cinema street, Kailash Nagar, Rahon street, Subhash Nagar, New Shakti Nagar and Several other places. The shopkeepers in clock tower street got stuck within their stores as the street outside the stores got submerged beneath rain water.
An automobile driver got stuck in his automobile on Shingaar Chinema street as because of profound water-logging his car stopped on the street. He left many frenzied calls for obtaining some aid to move out. The water dropping down in the elevated street were supplying additional issue for those commuters passing beneath the bridge as they had been passing by a water-logged street and water spilling in the flyover saturated them longer.
A resident of Chander Nagar, Saurabh Prashar, that got stuck close to Clock Tower rued there was a lot of water on the street it became hard to maneuver through it. He maintained his bicycle got ceased and he attained the mechanic following pushing it with fantastic difficulty.
Meanwhile, a resident of Sector 32 on Chandigarh Road, Karamjit Singh,” rued that although the region was one of the posh regions of the town however, the drainage system of the colony was awful, such that after departure of nearly five to six hours because the rain ceased, the water didn’t escape of the colony. He maintained the whole Chandigarh street was completely covered by rainwater and it happened nearly every time when there was moderate rain.
Another resident out of Rahon street Jyoti Sharma reported this street was a mess since there wasn’t even one day in the previous two years after this street has been spotted dry. She explained earlier because of sewerage congestion and now because of rain there was constantly water-logging on this street.
