SHEEL (PATIALA): Heart wrenching scenes were seen since the 11-year old boy of the martyr naib subedar Mandeep Singh consigned his mortal remains to fires in his native Sheel village at Patiala district. He had been accorded full military and state honors.
The air in the village turned gloomy since the entire body of the military guy was introduced here by the Indian Army amidst patriotic sloganeering. Mandeep Singh had laid down his life fighting the chinese aggression at Galwan Valley about the Indo-China boundary .
Mandeep Singh’s 11-year old son Jobanpreet Singh handsome his pyre while his elderly mom Shakuntala Kaur, wife Gurdeep Kaur, daughter Mahekpreet Kaur, three sisters and other relatives paid him their final tributes. Before Jobanpreet lit the pyre, mom, wife and kids raised their hands to salute the ultimate sacrifice made by Mandeep Singh.
Before, the entire body of the martyr was shot to his ancestral house, where his turban was also tied. A significant number of inhabitants of this village and the region paid homage to the body of the martyr in the village Dharamshala.
In the funeral Indian Army’s Bugler played with a mournful tune and the jawans turned their weapons and saluted the martyr after shooting the guard of honour. Meanwhile, the Subedar Lakhwinder Singh of the Indian Army and other military officers handed across the tricolor flag wrapped round the coffin of their martyr’s body his kids and saluted them.
Formerly, Brigadier Atul Bhatt of Patiala Brigade on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff paid homage to the body of the martyr. On behalf of the Punjab chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, cabinet ministry Sadhu Singh Dharmostat put a wreath in the body and provided flowers. On behalf of Lok Sabha Member Patiala Preneet Kaur, chief minister’s OSD Raj Kumar and Balwinder Singh laid the wreaths. On behalf of 2 Corps Commander Ambala, Colonel Mohit Chopra, on behalf of GOC of One Armed Division Patiala, Subedar Manpal Singh also laid the wreath on the body.
Besides, Ghanour MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur, Patiala Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, MLA Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra, MLA Arun Narang, Zilla Parishad Member Gagandeep Singh Jalalpur, Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit and SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu additionally paid tribuites into Mandeep Singh.
