West Bengal: Mamata announces yearly allowance, free home for Brahmin priests before surveys | Kolkata News


KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday declared a yearly allowance of Rs ,000 and free home for over 8,000 weak Sanatan Brahmin priests of the nation. The decision had been taken before the assembly polls in 2021.
“We had previously provided land into the Sanatan Brahmin sect to prepare an academy in Kolaghat. Many priests within this sect are financially weak. We’ve opted to help them by supplying them with an allowance of $ ,000 a month and free home under the state government’s home strategy,” Banerjee said.
Congratulating individuals about the Hindi Diwas, she said that her administration respects all languages also doesn’t have a linguistic prejudice.
“We honor all of languages. We’ve opted to produce a new Hindi Academy. We also have made a decision to prepare a Dalit Sahitya Academy. Dalits’ languages have impact on the Bengali language,” she told reporters.
