Two dozen attacked with acid in row above filling water at Jhansi | Kanpur News


Jhansi: More than 2 dozen individuals suffered burns when they were attacked with acid by a second group after a dispute over filling water in the hand pump in Basaar village beneath Uldan police station at Jhansi on Tuesday night.
Five people suffered severe injuries and were rushed into Jhansi medical school whilst police registered an FIR against six individuals and detained them. All of the wounded are out of the Scheduled Caste community.
According to details, there are just two hand pumps in Basaar village. The incident happened when one Angoori Devi went to draw water out of the hand pump that was compared by one of the accused Rajesh.
This resulted in a debate which escalated shortly as folks from both sides assembled. Since the debate heated up, a crowd gathered around the home of the accused that threw acid on them by the roof.
One accused has been captured by the victims and thrashed seriously while sailors advised authorities regarding the battle and acid attack.
A police team reached the village and took the wounded to the community gym from where five serious injuries were known to Jhansi medical school.
Further police force was set up in the village to guarantee law and order.
An FIR was lodged against six accused, specifically Rajesh, Santosh, Devendra, Umesh, Sonu and Banmali at Uldan police station on Wednesday morning under Sections 147, 323, 325, 326A, 504 of IPC and Section 3(1) of SC/ST Act.
SSP Jhansi Dinesh Kumar P stated,”We’ve detained all of the six accused. Additional police force was set up in the village to stop any undesirable incident while detailed evaluation is on.”
Each of the victims with acid burns were discharged in the CHC and Jhansi medical school.
SP town Rahul Srivastava told TOI,”Initial research has shown that the 2 groups had any disputes within the time plus a slight incident escalated into a battle.”
