Jhansi: UP Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu on Saturday stated that Bundelkhand has turned into a graveyard of farmers since most of these have died by suicide due to mounting loans and harvest failure. Lallu, in a telephonic conversation with TOI throughout his three-day-tour into Bundelkhand to fulfill the families of farmers who recently stopped their own lives, imputed their suicides into the’anti-farmer policies’ of their state authorities.
“Thousands of migrant labourers who’ve returned to their native areas, are still jobless despite many schemes floated by the state authorities that are superficial,” explained Lallu
“Permit lonely jobs, the majority of them are to get the monthly Rs ,000 grant that the state authorities had promised through the lockdown,” he added.
He said that because of the faulty and anti-farmer coverages of their Yogi authorities, farmers of Bundelkhand have been made to end their own lives as their crops are failing and loans are devoting their minds.
“Bundelkhand is turning into a graveyard of farmers. There are uncontrolled suicides occurring here and the government is not able to do anything. The insurance companies are operating off without paying compensations along with the CM Yogi isn’t carrying any cognizance of the problem. It would appear that the CM also is part of the massive insurance scam that the farmers are falling victim to,” explained Lallu.
Aside from that, the UPCC president added that a high number of mining activities have been completed in the area and the government is turning a blind eye on it. But when a farmer is located transporting a few sacks of sand from his farm, he’s reserved for illegal mining,” said Lallu.
When asked why the prior UPA government wasn’t successful in executing Bundelkhand Package and MNREGA strategy during their own rule, he stated that it had been MNREGA that was the lifeline of tens of thousands of migrants throughout the lockdown.
“It resulted from the attempts of Rahul Gandhi the Bundelkhand Bundle could be made possible. It’s helped tens of thousands of farmers in eliminating debts, also has contributed them, thereby growing the rural regions. But because of the hindrances created by the BSP, SP and BJP throughout their successive rules that the bundle couldn’t be successfully executed. In reality, it is Congress who’d attracted all of the significant reforms for the BJP is hoping to shoot dividends,” stated the UPPCC president.
