JAIPUR: Eight policemen have been suspended for allegedly maintaining 1.2 pound of opium recovered by a car during patrolling at Churu district of Rajasthan, officials said on Thursday.
The accused were about a highway patrolling responsibility on Sunday night when they regained the contraband in a car or truck. They supposedly maintained it with them took no actions against the automobile driver.
The issue came to the notice of Superintendent of Police, Churu, Tejaswini Gautam, late on Monday night after that she ordered a question. The policemen were suspended on Wednesday.
“They had been found guilty in the inquiry report consequently all of the eight policemen, such as a sub-inspector and 2 head-constables, were suspended on Wednesday. The material they had retained together was passed over to the SHO of Ratangarh police station for seizure,” the SP said.
Circle officer, Ratangarh, Pyare Lal Meena said the authorities captured 1.2 kg of opium out of them.
“The policemen delayed seizing the contraband. A case from the automobile driver was registered and he’s being hunted,” he explained.
